    That's alright. The UUs are a great group of people and their church is accepting of all faiths. There is no dogma.

    Agape is simply a Greek word for love. It is used in the New Testament to refer to God's love for us as opposed to eros (romantic) or philia (brotherly).

    I've noticed that knowing the meaning of words can change an outlook. Agape is a very powerful word.

    Indeed. Though I'm no etymologist, I'm constantly amazed at the expressiveness and precision of other languages, particularly ancient ones, as opposed to modern English. In English, we can say "I love my mother," or "I love my wallpaper." Two very different emotions but the same word.
