There are 4 main symptoms of Meniere's, (Vertigo,
Tinnitus, Nausea, and hearing loss/and or Fluctuating hearing loss)
however,
There are MANY symptoms that people with Menieres experience
daily.
My Symptoms are as follows:
* Tinnitus (constant sound of buzzing in my left ear, with occasional
ringing)
(right ear tinnitus, a constant low tone hum)
* Severe hearing loss in left ear, moderate-severe hearing loss in right ear
* Fatigue and flu-like symptoms some days
* Chronic headache (due to internal stress caused by conflicting
signals in brain and fluid pressure in ears),
everyday varying in degree from mild to intense.
* Nausea (Controlled with meds)
* Tight neck, shoulders and back
* Pressure feeling in head ( sensation of tight band around head)
* Bouncing vision as I walk *only happends now when I run
* Spinning sensation when I turn my head too fast (constant-daily),
have
to more my head slowly.
* No longer
happeneds
* Cannot tolerate bright lights, or too much visual stimuli..(such
as a grocery store), causes
me to become very disoriented, dizzy and confused.
* Eyes will shift back and forth or blur at times, making it difficult
to read
* This is much
better now
* Constantly of balance * tollerable now and not as bad
* Cannot look up or down, *no longer bothers me
* Severe anxiety *now only in certain situations
* Sensation of heavy weights on my head
* Imbalance (have to use a cane now to walk anywhere)
*No longer need the
cane unless I am having a very bad day
* Sway a lot, tip backwards or sideways without warning. *am very good at catching myself now
* Walk into wall, corners and trip on nothing all the time * Still do this LOL
* Rocking sensation / Bouncing sensation *only on bad days now
* Difficulty walking straight, tend to tangle my feet and walk to the left
* Slurred speech at times
* Perception disturbances ( I think things to the left are closer
than they are and things to the
right are farther away)
* "Brain Fog" having a hard time concentrating most days, memory
problems, and difficulty
grasping a concept. Tend to forget what
I am talking about in the middle of a sentence.
VERY
GOOD ARTICLE
* When carrying anything over 10lbs, will fall over or drop to my
knees because of both
balance organs being damaged, knocks me off balance
and it takes a couple hours to recover my
sense of balance
* Clumsiness
* Difficulty watching movement
* Drunk feeling *not near as bad now
* Holding onto stable objects when possible to help me walk/keep
my balance
*just use my fingertips
now
* lightheadedness
* Motion intolerance
* Sleepiness all the time *this is getting better
* Sound distortion, sound sensitivity
EMOTIONAL ASPECTS:
The improvements I list below is due to intensve counseling and finally
learing to live around my Meniere's and no longer letting it live me!
* Loss of self-reliance, self-confidence, self-esteem
* this area has
improved 95% !!
* Distracted easily
* Extreme anxiety in public *I still have this, but to a lesser degree, and none when I am with someone
* Cannot drive due to anxiety attacks and perception disturbances
and dizziness
*
I can drive again, but still short distances
* Phobias (cannot leave my home without the help of either Xanax
or Klonopin e.g. anti-anxiety meds)
(heights, public places, unfamiliar
places, driving, crossing streets, etc.)
*
I have overcome all of these except the fear of heights
* Severe Chronic Depression
*Since
accepting my Menieres and no longer letting it control me, this is all
but gone
