If you chose to watch this you will most likely need to use the pause button because it moves a little fast.

You can find out a lot more about his therapy on his website www.ear-hydrops.

I thought it was well done. I like that he is really trying to get his theories out there to the world.
SweetTater, are you actually doing his program, and if so, how is it going?

No I'm not doing the program right now, I have technical issues with my internet, I have satellite and have problems with Skype so I haven't been able to get a consult with Dr. La Torre yet, I plan to find a way to have the consultation at some point and try the therapy though. I think acujen is on the program right now so if you have questions you might send her a PM.

from a close friend "This man was a "member" on one of Facebook's Meniere's Disease Support Groups and he was incredibly rude to all of us regarding our Meniere's, he told us we were all "mental cases" and when we questioned him for proof of his "success" with treating Meniere's, he could not back up anything he said, research wise, no publications etc..he got VERY ANGRY with us.

Yes, it's the whole "Skype" thing as well, this guy is a quack, please do not follow his advice regarding his "treatment of Meniere's", I know those of us would eat dirt if a doctor or specialists told us it would "cure us", but PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE BEWARE OF THIS DOCTOR. Do not become a friend of his if you are on Facebook, DO NOT Skype with him and follow his treatment advice. He is a fake, a fruit and someone that is trying to make millions off of those of us suffering from a very debilitating disease. If this man TRULY "had the cure", don't you think there would be a world wide uprising and a whole slew of doctor's following his regime? Thank you for posting this but please, I advise you, not only as a fellow MM member here, a friend as well, but also as your moderator....please avoid this individual all together!

If you don't follow him and adore him and praise his ways, he degrades you, belittles you and if he has your contact info, he will continue to email or post to you on your facebook through messaging and will not leave you alone. He is a "medical stalker" to say the least!"

    Sincerely,
    Jen and Hearing Dog, Hattie

here's one more "I was a part of his group however I was just kicked out/removed from the group for not being a sheep. LOL... I was basically Slandered in the group for "supporting" others in their accomplishments, their treatments, and wishing them a good day. Numerous lies were told about me and I was called a LIAR and told that i only posted Negative comments. This is probably because I questioned his inability to post his "treatment" plan. According to him, if you don't Skype with him then you can't do his program. He thinks we (all of us with Meniere's) are too stupid to follow well written instructions and must Skype with him on a regular basis throughout the initial treatment phase and that his treatment will "cure" Meniere's. His definition of a cure is to manage the symptoms as they arise. Isn't that what we all do already with our own ENTs and Specialists?

Apparently all we have to do is drink a lot of water, inject steroids intramuscular and follow his diet. No need for any of the meds we take, no need to watch our sodium or any other "nonsense" that American doctors or any other doctor other than himself has prescribed. We are all cut from the same cookie cutter mold, and should all follow him and his "treatment". I'm glad I'm out of that sheep pen.

It's funny how the only pages that came up on a search of his name were those that directly link back to his own FB page and website(s). I did not find one link to any publications in medical journals, no CV listed (as many other MM doctors have online), no listings @ hospitals (he also claimed on his FB page, to be a neurologist), nothing @ all to back up his being a real doctor other than his page which states that he is "Dr. Andrea La Torre, an "indipendent" Otolaryngologist". Makes me wonder if he is even really a licensed doctor. Ever other doctor I've researched who treats Menieres has numerous publications, professorships @ Universities, medical trials on file, clearly stated medical treatment guidelines, and from my own experience and what I've seen and read about from "Support Groups" (which his was vehemently stated, by him, NOT to be-- don't support anyone through this as you aren't a Dr.-- what I was told), Drs. try numerous things to find what works for their patients. As far as I've seen, there's yet to be only one cure all/treatment that fits every single person with Menieres.

    Ok... Sorry for my rant.

I totally agree with what you are saying Jen. I have also read this man's degrading comments to others on facebook and his comments are definitely not ones that you would find acceptable or come to expect from any genuine person within the medical profession. I can also understand and empathise with people in their search for answers and the need that they feel to not leave any stone unturned in looking for something that will help - but this man rings alarms bells for me. Even given the problems that this man may have in interpreting and getting across his point in the English language doesn't justify the things that he has said on various facebook pages.
Perhaps those who have had positive dealings with him or who have found his treatment to work can come back and let us know of their success.

I've spoken to him through email and skype and found him quit personable. He spent more time explaining hydrops and meniere's to me than any of my ents. I've read some of his rants, and I agree, he can be over the top. Even I was turned off by some of his comments (Jen's fb comments). I will say though, he suggested drinking more water and stopping my diuretic, which I have. My tinnitus has gone down significantly....I hardly notice it anymore. I was supposed to start the rest of the treatment this summer, but my granddad died and then I started school. Now that things have settled down, I plan on starting the treatment on Thursday. It might be a complete waste of time, but I am willing to try anything. I'll let you all know if it works or not.

My personal experiences find that some of what is being said on that you tube video is completely wrong, I for one am glad I did not run into this" doctor" earlier in my treatment as I may have believed some of what was said and followed what I consider now to be bad advice.

Just my opinion, your mileage may vary.

I too have spoken with him on Skype and had the same experience, he is very personable.
I was also put off the way he singled Jen out (you know what I am speaking of strngday) which is why I suggested to him he should've approached her by private messaging about her opinion.

I would like to say in his defense as far as the statement made in jesseandalison's post above that he is quote: trying to make millions off of those of us suffering from a very debilitating disease.(end quote) Dr. La Torre has offered to give his services free to patients in the US because some of the medications are so expensive for those without insurance coverage. His fee for those who can afford it is about $140.00 dollars ONE TIME ONLY and he is available for life after that but he has always offered free services for anyone who cannot afford it. I don't know what his motive for trying to help people would be if he isn't in it for the money. You tell me jesseandalison. ???

I only saw people being rude to him, so I've missed anything he may have said or done that was unpleasant. When I see mobbing going on I figure the mob owns the problem, not the target. Mobbing is basic canine behavior.

I said this before - I admire and respect his passion but he 'lost' me when he dismissed SCDS as a mental issue.

I like his plan in general I just think that we all are affected differently and respond to some treatments more than others,
he seems to believe that there's only one way to treat me and the other things that has helped me he doesn't believe in.

I had a problem with him saying that MM was not a debilitating disorder. If it is not, why do we need him?

Dr. La Torre is a "real" doctor "in good standing" with the Italian Medical Board. The information is easily verifiable. Italy has a database of all MD's licensed to practice.
