    Maya

    With one click, beguiling Maya
    changes shadows on the wall
    into dreams for soporiferous minds
    to touch, possess, and recall.

    Behold the unveiling of images
by a brazen mistress of illusion.
Suitors drawn to the trap of
    Maya, the queen of delusion.

She exploits your weakness with her sway
She takes her time, she tempts your will
Before you know it you've given in
    and Maya scores another kill.

    Who is Maya?

Is she a Mermaid, or a Siren?

In Buddhism, maya refers to the illusory nature of the world. We are all (according to this tradition) ignorant as we fail to distinguish between perception and reality so when we react, or rather our ego reacts, it is mainly to illusion and that is what causes a lot of our mental suffering.

It's difficult to explain in 3 lines.

Does maya use a computer mouse for the "With one click" ?

I was thinking in terms of an onomatopoeia word that rendered the idea of quick succession - like a projector.

Interesting question. What makes you ask?

If you're going to be snarky it's pointless for me to reply. I thought you were asking sincerely so I gave you my answer.

So, is it like when we act on assumptions as if they were fact? I observed this in myself over the past several months while taking self-inventory. I have a habit of assuming motivations and intentions of others and then responding to them under those assumptions instead of actually hearing what's being said and taking it for what's being said. I suspect that those people, in return begin to respond to me off of their own assumptions and so then there's this viscous cycle where both parties are acting/reacting off of assumptions ... which is likely fiction ... and not from what is actual fact.

Yes, that can fit very well with this theme.

BTW, I was actually wondering about the "click" thing too, before I read your response. :)

I recently discovered that I do that same thing.

    What does it mean?

When you blindly believe what someone says and assume that their words are true, their assumptions are fact without thinking critically or applying any sort of reasoning, or challenging what you hear - what do you think it means? What does it mean to you, personally, to base conclusions on personal emotions, interpretations or observations without stepping outside of something and looking at it as objectively as possible?

If you feel you do this, ask yourself how come.

I asked myself, "how come", and I didn't get an answer, went totally blank.

What do you think it all means............. 8)
