I'm back....and feeling much better. I laid back down and went to sleep. The nausea is still there but not as bad as before. I've got my royal purple spa robe on with my "pretty black furry slippers" and right now I'm feeling good. It's good to know that I have friends that I've never met who care about me so much..and more importantly....know exactly what I'm going through. I want to have a get together on my side of town so I can meet everyone. I'll be here for a while...

PS...Dizzy..I'm working on the doctor part...thanx

I agree with Dianne that finding a specialist that is good may be your answer........mine is so empathetic, and when I call for help the nurses are also so nice and caring.....and every doc on call I've gotten at 11pm is wonderful! One even called me the next day to see how I was. Could you post here to find a doc someone really likes in your area? I go to the Michigan Ear Institute in MI and they are all about empathy....and are very up on the disease, at least as far as I can tell. They are also open to you (me) trying new things such as the meniette or other medicines. It is also true that you see the world from where you've been at.......I have had a colectomy that had me bleeding internally for a long time....when my kids were babies. Sometimes my 2 year old had to get her own lunch from the pantry. I felt like a lousy mom. But it got better when I had it removed. I spent so much time at the hospital for that, that now it is easier for me to place this suffering in perspective, but it's still HARD. I also sat near an acquaintance friend at soccer the other day who said the liver doc just gave her 3 weeks to live......she has been battling liver cancer. It is hard that these are the things I need to hear to place my own experience in perspective. Another friend had breast cancer, and I thought, why can't that be me instead of this? And I felt horrible for thinking it, this won't kill me, but sometimes it kills my spirit. But this board really helps, knowing I am not alone. I hope you find a GOOD doctor who can help you. My doc keeps assuring me there are many things for me to try, and is always hopeful. We are here for you, please hang in there. Lisa :) (Hugs!)

P.S.--- Would you ever consider a cochlear implant? It sounds like it has worked wonders returning hearing to some of our friends here. Lisa :)

Thanks Lisa for your insight....I'm working on getting an ENT that is a specialist in MM. I just read an article on a Hybrid cochlear implant that is for people who have lost partial hearing. And it dosen't damage the inner ear. It's still in the baby stages, but 80 people have been implanted since 1999 and most have had a great result. I've been told that if I ever completely lose my hearing, I would be a good canidate for and colchlear implant. I'm still trying to find more info on the hybrid.

Weebeefine :) I am so sorry I haven't been in here to let you know I too am pulling for you :)

You have gotten some wonderful advice and tremedous support from the previous posters so I just want to say....hang in there girl :) we are all here for you and always will be :)

I am also losing my hearing (right deaf and left going that way) and HA's aren't an option for me :( apparently, according to more than one MM specialist, only a CI will work...I also read about the hybrid CI...hope it gets out of the experimental stage real soon as it sounds very promising for those of us who still have a little hearing, especially with the speech discrimination, which is where I have major trouble now :(

Just know that the beast will try and control you :( but we have to control it as much as is possible, and it is possible to do that :) I have had it for 35 years now and even though it has changed my life to how I wanted it :( I have adapted and love life and all that it involves.
I can't drive anymore, so I found alternative ways of getting around :) I now live in my dream town and adore my home (even if I haven't been able to complete the renovations for the moment :)) and have great friends and family.
When I realised I couldn't do all I used to do, the hardest thing for me was to accept the help that is available (damn independent spirit ;D) but once I did and I than felt I had controlled the beast, even if it did mean getting help to clean, mow the yard and all the things that used to make the beast try and control me...now, I know life is worth living ;D and believe me sweetie, I have been where you are a couple of times in the past, I feel your pain :(

Another thought WBF.....even though I have a very supportive family and friends they really didn't "understand" what the beast puts us through, until they saw Tuckers DVD....its a great way to actually "show" our loved ones what we see and hear

Now, just remember what Aladdin said "you are never alone"

{{{{{{HUGS}}}}}}} and kisses to you Weebeefine. Keep posting :)

((((((((((WeeBeeFine))))))))) I had to pop in and check on you and I am so happy I did and to see you're doing better just tells me You Can Do IT!! ;)

Ya know like the nike commercial "JustDo It" ;D

Excellent in refernce to the doctors I'm sure out of all those one should be able to suit your needs. If you need to write down what you want to ask questions about before seeing them ...I know that's what I did so I wouldn't forget anything. I found if I didn't have my questions wrote down I'd think of a bunch of this or that I wish I had asked. with a list...no problem with forgetting.

From what I see in your post you sound so much better than you did the other night ... funny yeah I know I can't actually hear ya but I feel peoples attitudes can come through what/how they type. :)

My dear you have made my evening complete!!!! ;D ;D ;D

Hey all...well bottom line is I should have taken a few more days...today was really tough...especially on the hearing end of things....the noise was so loud I couldn't even hear myself think. Then the people that I work with started with their stupid remarks...and kapllooie there went my day...right down the tubes.....and I've been crying every since. Maybe I should consider another line of work

I've changed jobs a couple of times because of this disease. Give it some thought. It just might help.
