Hey Dave,- are you in the Great White North ?? Come on down to sunny southern Ont. I'm surprised that you haven't been on Serc or have you and it didn't work for you because that seems to be the drug of choice here in this great land of ours. I've been on it for about 18 years and it works for me, first started on 8mgs. 3 x a day and then went up to 16, 3 x a day and am now on 24 mgs. 3 x a day, mind you that was over a course of years though. I have never had any of the extensive testing done on me like most of the others in here have nor have I had any of the invasive surgery either and I'm hoping to make it through without having any of that done. I probably haven't had any of it done because as you said, it's so damn hard to come by here no Dr. bothered and neither did I, and now,- it's well,- what's the point ?? Of course I don't have to try to earn a living either and that makes a heck of a lot of difference nor do I have to worry about raising a family that job's all done. Honestly though, IF you can get on the right kind of medication it will make all the difference in the world and you WILL have better days, believe it or not. Hang in there Bud, you're Canadian, you're made of the right stuff- we're a bunch of tough birds at least we're supposed to be. LOL AND- did you notice I didn't say "eh" not even once--- if ya wanna really feel at home though I will, the next time I post... Hope you're feeling better soon. Loretta

    Dave,
Keep up those crazy, funny venting posts. You gave me a smile and a laugh today, and I needed it.

If you want to give up the Great White North, the McKenzie Brothers and touks for a while to find an MD why not check out some of the more prominent teaching hospitals and ENT Clinics on-line and see if you can get a referral from them? They generally see people from all over the world. Here are a few I know of: House Ear Clinic in Los Angeles, California, University of California San Diego Medical Center, University of California San Francisco Medical Center.

    Good luck!

this will ether rule out or prove the menieres.after three months of testing at the hospital,i was finally referred to an e.n.t.i tested positive in both ears, now i live with it,but at least i'm not sitting around guessing.good luck to you.

I am actually in Eastern Ontario. I live in the Nations Capital, Snottawa, oops, Ottawa. Yeah, always love when Americans say we all say EH? and ABOOT. Don't know where they get that stuff, Y'all..LOL. I am one tough cat, and always lands feet first. Seven near death bouts.. beleive me, I ain't that easy to get rid of. When Jesus decides it's time for my reward, I can guarantee you it will be an exit worth of a Schwarzenegger movie... nothing less will do.

I wanna see someone in here use the moniker Spinderella. Figured it would be a neat name for a girl. I am actually thinking of changing mine to something like dizzy smurf, or BuzzBear or something. How about the Spin Nazi.. has a certain ringing in my ears to it.. N'est Pas? No Fun for YOU!!! LOL. I am on sert, but the doc is looking at putting up the dose to threefold of what it is, considering how storng the attacks are. He needs those tests done. Oh.. GREAT NEWS.. I ditched that SOB Arrogant GP today. I have been LUCKY enough to get a better GP, one that is non nonsense, and beleives int he right doc for the right diagnosis. He knows my specialist, and recommened a full neurological workup through him.. so I am in good hands. For So Cal.... I have what is referred to as Preferred Doctor insurance, which means I can pick and choose anyplace in the world for treatment, so I might well just go that route when I get to that point. I am terrified of them cutting someting out of me, and destroying my hearing. I am already noticing loss in the lower registers.

Humour.. I am so glad I can still laugh at this stuff. Erma Bombeck and Brett Butler taught me that if life deals you a black eye, paint a tatoo on it! No point in snotnosing. It's here, let;s deal with the issue. I am not happy about looking like a palsied retard sometimes when I try to lift my head, but it's what I get, and there is no way around it.

Hey Dave, I pictured you being up in Whitehorse or somewhere in that vicinity but yeah, Ottawa gets hit with winter a lot more than I care to see, have relatives there in the military. How about you go knocking down a few doors in that BIG HOUSE on the hill and see what you can do for the rest of us living with this beast. Really glad to hear you got a new GP and like him and that now the ball will finally get rolling and one day when we turn good old CBC on there will be Dave doing his thing on the ice on the canal. Hope you have a good Christmas Bud. Loretta

Loretta. You're a rare bird. Most Americans don't know very much about us. You got it right down to Canadian Tire.. LOL.

If I go to that hill, and start knocking, it will be to knock on the head of the leader.. He is not my favourite person. And the Canal and I are not going to be aquainting ourselves this year metinx.. unless I am trying out for the bruise olympics.

    LOL.

No, in Ottawa, but it could be worse, it could be WINTERPEG... man, I have NOTHING to complain about.

One thing... it rained, and rained, and rained for weeks. At about midnight last night, we finally had our first snow.. just before Christmas day ended.

We almost had a green Christmas.

Now I get to pretend to love this stuff, and go out and shovel it. At least there is something soft to fall into... ROLF.

Hope everyone had a great Christmas, filled with family, fun, and an episode free day. I spun, but lived with it.

    Cheerz.
