    That's great! :)

A large part of the book is about 'proving' how muscle tension 'crimps and cramps' the system, and that it can cause TERRIBLE suffering. I've talked with many people with menieres who have tested this theory the best way possible ... by actually removing the tension and seeing how their body responds. They are always very surprised.

I've been fortunate enough to have visited people who are in the middle of a vertigo attack, treating their muscles (a very specific way), and watching their astonishment as the attack stops. It hasn't just happened once, but many times. Some of these were diagnosed meniere's sufferers. But the most incredible thing is that once they see this connection for themselves, they know THAT is the real problem. This realisation is wonderful ... just think, one of the keys is to release tension, something that makes us feel better anyway! The trouble is, I can't come and show you this in the middle of an attack. You have to see the connection for yourself. That's why I offer 'success stories', research and most importantly, the underlying logic.

June, you are one of the lucky ones who can recognise jaw tension. Most people don't have a CLUE it exists - till I point out that their health clues say otherwise! And the body never lies.

A simple reminder to 'melt' (relax) the shoulders throughout the day is a simple way to start.
    Don't think it isn't important.

3 cracked - and lost - teeth in 3 years helped clue me in ! I like that word melt the shoulder muscles, it's so understandable.

Years back I was very concerned to notice that my teeth were quite brittle. Although my doctors or dentist could never tell me why, I decided that this was a significant health clue that needed an answer. So I altered my diet (and kick started progress with added vitamins/minerals). The proof (stronger teeth) was in the pudding.

So, it's not all about tension.

clenching jaws and grinding teeth, for example, once dealt with often require that emotional and mental work be done particularly regarding anger and anxiety. Mental, physical, emotional, spiritual health - the superb wellness circle.

Absolutely! That's why I just love this forum. I've been able to tap into like minded people from all over the world on the same journey.

I agree wholeheartedly with this " Mental, physical, emotional, spiritual health - the superb wellness circle."

But not so much with this ....
It's good to deal with anger and anxiety and let them move on, but assuming they are the cause of somatic problems because they make a good story line is shaky and even more shaky is thinking we 'may not' get well physically til we have paid homage to every confusion, hurt and sadness of our life to date. Remember before they knew about H Pylori and stomach ulcers? However things started I have found that often the solution is far simpler than we imagine if we will just accept that the solution to something that has caused us so much trouble might be a simple change. (I am not predicting that a solution to Menieres is a simple change, but then it might be or might be a series of simple changes).

I have seen a lot of people study their past life for decades and most of them only come out with an understanding in their own mind of what's to blame but the problems remain. I like eliminating the problems and then being surprised to see in their absence where the links were or weren't.

My book came in today's mail!! It's a rainy day in the Northeast, perfect weather for reading! ;)

Lee, this special way you talk about stopping the vertigo....is it the method in the book that you describe regarding massaging the sternocleidomastoid muscle?

Lee, you said a while back in this thread that the body knows what is causing disease and that we just have forgotten that the body knows (something to that effect anyway).

I have been through lots of naturopathic treatment over the past 4 years, some good some bad (and expensive). If I am grasping your drift here you are saying that there is a reason for every condition/disease in the body and that we just need to tap into the underlying causes. I so understand that, and agree. In my mind I have always said that there is a reason for my inner ear to malfunction like this. It doesn't just do it on its own; there is a cause and effect here. I just don't know what the cause is.

Anyway I went to a natural healer a few weeks ago. This woman was recommended by a friend that said she was amazing. She uses a familiar technique called muscle testing to unlock answers to questions directed to the body; questions that we could not answer ourselves. Muscle testing is a type of Kineisiology. Anyway I wanted to know what you thought of this technique. I'm sure you must be aware of it. What do you think of this as a way of getting at underlying causes.

Btw, I'm going to order your book.

That's great that you have your book! Good on you for being open to new ideas. Perhaps you've now read enough to see that the 'answers' are actually in chapter 5 through to chapter 18 ... that's if you want to have a very good chance of correcting the underlying problem once and for all. The simple truth is, if I could have explained it quickly, I would never have written the book. I would have just put it all on the forum. But it doesn't work like that. To correct your own problem, you have to understand the underlying logic. You will then start to see answers to the questions people on this forum so often ask. And there is no way to describe the vital information in those illustrations.

The book is designed to literally put the pieces of the puzzle together.

Carol, I am the person Lee writes about in her book - Kathy's story chapter.

Background:  I first started to pick up on Lee's posting back in 2003 - What Lee was posting make perfect sense to me, so I started writing to her for help, only to find that we both lived in the same city in Western Australia - what luck !

However it took me a year to finally turn up on Lee's doorstep in a fairly fragile state, but within a couple of hours after my arrival, this amazing woman had me sorted out - infact standing on her doorstep for the very first time, was not your usual form of greeting when you first meet someone you now know on the forum, but yet to meet face to face, so as I have already said, instead of the normal salutations, I got, after she obviously looked me over were 'I can see exactly what your problem is, come on in'...the rest is history, with an exception for my relapse which Lee's writes about.

Similar to the known downfalls of a alcoholic when they returned to the bottle after a period of sobriety, with Lee's theories firmly planted in my head, I thought I knew it all... and that I was bullet-proof - not so.

Foolishly, I had again stopped listen to my body's clues and drifted back into my old habits... but this time, with known conseqences, and I should have known better -  so once again spent 3 long days of bouncing off the walls in a full blown menieres attack and absolutely terrified I would loose more of my hearing -  so finally got smart, putting my tail between my legs and ashamedly phoned Lee again for help.

The point I am making here, show me a so called 'specialist' who has the COURAGE OR SKILLS to step into the rages of a full blown menieres attack and ARREST IT IMMEDIATLEY - Plus, having already walked in my shoes and the author of her own wellness, Lee also had the generosity of spirit and commonsense  to arrive on my doorstep laden with fresh foods - what a special friend Menieres.org gave me... hey !!

So here we are in 2007 - some four years later.

Lee has now published (at her own expense) her ground-breaking BODY LOGIC, yet like the old days...many still choose to ignore her, even coming on here to insult her...I just shake my head in absolute bewilderment - but as Lee's say's, 'you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make them drink'.

My story is now about muscle maintenance and living by the rules of Body Logic.  At 64, I am again symptom free to live a rich and full life, but my eye is always on my bodies subtle health clues.

Just a few days ago I had my little 3 yr old granddaughter here on a sleep over - to be able to actually hear her sweet little voice sing nursery rhymes is awesom and I owe my full recovery to Lee and of course, my heartfelt gratitude - good onya Lee my, Mate....

I am heartened and hopeful now because of your stories, Lee, Dianne, Kathy. I will continue to read and ask questions. I have already begun to work the trigger points I have found in my neck and at the base of my skull. A couple points in both areas caused real pain upon pressure, and my response was, YES!!

    Milo,
I can answer your question on muscle testing. Dr. Devi Nambudripad developed this technique. I studied it when I was working on a doctorate in naturopathic health. It doesn't make sense until you see it work. And it works on some, but not on others. The theory behind it is simple. If you are allergic or sensitive to a substance, even being near that substance will weaken your muscles. If a certain medicine or supplement can help your body, even being near that medicine or supplement will strengthen your muscles. Your doctor probably had you hold a bunch of small containers full of different substances and hold an arm extended outward. Then applying pressure when you were holding the substance is compared to your strength without it. The actual treatment is just like desensitization except non-invasive. It's a lot more complicated because the tests can actual reveal a true allergy compared to an emotional sensitivity to a substance. Dr. Devi's book was very interesting and I met a doctor who worked with her. Many naturopaths use her method or a variation of muscle testing.

When I first heard of this I honestly thought it was crazy. That was long before I saw that it did actually work on some people. It doesn't work on me. My body reacts to the things I'm allergic to but they can never desensitize me using the method. Rotating the offenders is the best I can do. Eliminating them is the best but I'm allergic to quite a few foods and also gluten sensitive.

I'm all for trying everything. I know it can be expensive but so can being sick.

If you think about it, energy never goes away, it's just transferred. I think positive use of energy within the body can create wellness and negative use of energy within the body can create disease. Also, energy can be transferred from outside the body....either positive or negative.

Carol, you need to religiously read Lee's book from cover to cover, keep it by your bedside as I do - I read Lee's manuscript as it passed through its drafts. A year ago as a journalist, I though Lee was ready for publication - but not so, according to Lee's reckoning as she held back for yet another year, not to keep researching, but to make it totally user friendly step by step...there were times when I thought Lee would finally finish-up publishing in splash-proof and bathroom friendly...;-)

    Cheers, Kass

Good on you for that Carol - I think Lee must be taking a well earned rest to spend time with her family after being rushed off her feet after the launch of her book - it must be a bit daunting moving from a humble school-teacher, researcher, writer to having to cope with all the trappings of fame...Sorry Lee, couldn't resist that dig !

Lisa, after you get your head around Discovering Body Logic, it would be great if you could post some feedback for all of us to chew over...

    Cheers, Kass

I was in the grocery store today, and trying to work on my posture, when I realized that I always carry a small, light purse under my left arm. This had probably caused problems, right? I used to carry a larger, heavier one and switched to a small one due to neck and shoulder pain. But what can be done for all those of us who carry purses - we need a place to keep the vertigo meds! Switch shoulders frequently? Any other suggestions?

When I'm "seriously shopping" I carry everything in one of those outdated fanny packs. I've taken to carrying a purse less and less.

    Hi All
Been a while since i last posted, but i thought i should post on this thread.
I was lucky enough to be in Lee's city last week, thanks to the wife suffering barotrauma on landing, and arranged for a meeting with her. I can tell you, from all the doctors and specialists i have seen, this was the best one on one meeting ever. :)
Lee and her husband spent about an hour going over my trigger points on our hotel room floor , and i felt soooo much better after their work. Much looser. Lee also mentioned which areas where the tightest. My jaw, my SCM, shoulders and upper back, and my chest. They also both answered the many questions we asked them. It was a really good experience for me, and i can't thank Lee enough for taking the time to come and see me on a Sunday. I am very grateful for the time effort she took to help me. :D

I also bought one of her "CharlieCanes", and her book, which i had plenty of time to read on a 3 day train trip back home , as the wife was not allowed to fly.

Everyone should at least try Lee's theories. What have you got to lose??
