clindamycin

    Hi guys, i've been having trouble logging on so i haven't posted in a while but i've been reading along. OK so this friday i have to have a scope on my knee for a meniscus tear. I have a ton of med allergies so they want to use 600mg iv clindamycian. My doc says its ok for my ears but hes an ortho . I can't find much online that says its bad for the ears but i can't find much that says its not. What shall you say????

    I don't know. I would call the ear doctor and ask.

    I do not believe that it is ototoxic...very strong antibiotic though.

    My oto docs have all told me that any antibiotic ending in mycin is ototoxic. However, if this is just a one time thing, I would not worry about it. Go ahead and do what you have to do.

    I would just do it and deal with the consequences as they come. Of course, a call into your ENT/OTO couldn't hurt.
