I had migraines for a while that I did not recognize as such. An ENT that I went to for help with tinnitus (Vitamin B therapy that helped me friend and me too), and she diagnosed it.
    Right upper temple, bingo.
I was shocked, but took the zomig samples she gave me and it was like poof!! 20 minutes later my entire head was clear. It never felt like a headache, more of an foggy feeling. It was amazing as I thought of it as brain fog.
I take it about 2x per month, but I am so glad I discovered this as what used to be 3 days of fog and ache now were gone pretty much immediately.
Maggs, sometimes I'll get them after one too much wine, but I don't drink often and I'm not givin it up..............
I did see a neuro to rule out MAV before my laby, and he confirmed classic migraines and not mav.
Good luck to all in this continuing struggle. (I do have far less headaches now after the laby too- I think the horrible mm helped contribute, definitely). Lisa :)

Oh no Maggie, not another virus.......yuck. I hope you feel better very soon! :-*

I’m not too sure how much help I can be to you on this one. I had a lot of issues that were helped by VRT – including the walking in the dark problem. I had so much difficulty walking at night until two years after onset – it seems like the compensation process kicked in and suddenly walking at night became easier (still not great but wayyyy better). It was really amazing to find things changed so dramatically. I don’t know if that’s the way with many? I really don’t know much about the whole compensation process.

That’s terrific news about the drop attacks not happening as often...oh I hope that continues for you! Drops are so scary. Maybe with the drops decreasing, VRT exercises will become more helpful with the issues you have remaining? (walking in dark and balancing issues when turning quickly). I was told at VRT that MM is such a hard condition to treat because we have new and ongoing damage happening to our vestibular systems – we often don’t get a long break before another round of damage occurs. That specialist said the compensation process is much easier for a person who suddenly experiences unilateral vestibular damage (such as from a virus or other non-mm condition) because once it’s done it’s done, the system can focus on retraining to compensate. Because of this, the longer we can go without vertigo attacks and other vestibular damage, the better our changes to improve our balance and learn to walk in the dark again.

Lisa, I know exactly what you mean about that foggy/headache thing. It wasn’t until I started treating the MAV and found improvement with those symptoms that I was even able to recognize them for what they are. Before they had been so mixed in with the MM symptoms that I had no idea what was causing what.

Maggie ~ you say you don’t have any food triggers and that you’ve kept a journal. Does that mean you tried an elimination diet already – ie. Did you cut out all possible trigger foods for 3 weeks and then slowly re-introduce one at a time? Until I did that step I would have sworn I had no food triggers either. Now I realize MSG and soya sauce leave me with an instant (non migraine type) headache and brainfog/general dizziness the next day.

Sorry it’s taken me so long to respond, my head just wouldn’t cooperate with me these past few days. Hope you are starting to feel better.

Oh, and in Canada we observe Easter much the same – holiday for everyone on the Friday. All schools and federal agencies (banks, government offices, etc) are closed for the Monday as well. Our stores are closed the Friday and Sunday, with holiday hours on Monday (and regular hours on Saturday). Think this is one of the few holidays we celebrate much the same around a lot of the world.
